Routine Surgery

Routine surgeries, such as spays and neuters, are performed on a daily basis.  The doctors and staff at Animal General Hospital advocate that all pets not intended for breeding and/or past their breeding years, be spayed and/or neutered as early as possible. This is typically around six months old for puppies and kittens.  This is to prevent many medical conditions that may occur in your pet, as well as significantly decrease the likelihood of others.

We understand that surgery is a big event in your pet’s life, as well as yours, which is why we do everything we can to ensure the health and safety of your pet before, during, and after surgery. For example, all patients undergo a physical examination and have a blood panel performed to ensure they do not have any underlying conditions and are healthy prior to surgery.  All routine surgeries also receive pain medications before and after surgery, as well as intravenous fluids and intraoperative monitoring during surgery. Everyone was so wonderful from the moment we walked in. So kind and attentive. Dr. W and his staff made us feel as if we were their only patients that day. I never felt as though we were being rushed through to get to the next appointment. Everything was explained thoroughly and all questions were patiently answered. Would highly recommend!

We had a great experience bringing our kitten Sam to Animal General! The staff was kind and caring and was great at communicating with us through the whole process. We can’t wait to bring our other pets there for their vet needs.

Always a wonderful and positive experience!

Super friendly and helpful staff- The vet was compassionate and very knowledgeable. My puppy came in with a fractured femur and right away received lots of love and attention. I know I left him in good hands.
